Music Wishes for 2013

In addition to making resolutions for the new year, I also make wishes. My tradition is to make the same number of wishes as I make resolutions. It probably says something about me (and perhaps my repressed Midwestern Protestant upbringing?) that I have a much harder time coming up with wishes than I do resolutions. In any case, here are my music wishes for the new year. 1. I hope to get the chance to play at Passim again in 2013. 2. I’d like to make it into the finals of a song contest again this year – ideally one I haven’t made it into before. 3. I’m hoping that I’ll find the right producer and engineer for the new CD project, and make a CD I’m genuinely thrilled with. 4. When that new CD is out, I’m hoping it will make the folk charts again – even at a higher position than the last one. 5. I’d like to make some real inroads in building an audience in a new area. 6. I’m hoping to figure out how to build a bigger audience (and turn people out) in my own area – in a way, it’s harder; I play here a lot, so it’s less of an event when I do. 7. It would be great if I could fully get past my shoulder injury in 2013. 8. I’m hoping to be able to open for someone cool or at somewhere cool this coming year. 9. I’d love to have my CD release show be a real event. 10. I’d love to get selected for a showcase or festival at a folk alliance regional or some other place I haven’t yet played.
